Microsoft Outlook can sometimes stop sending and produces some strange errors, the following instructions may help to fix this.

Question: Merlin,

I am having a problem using Oulook Express. It will not let me access the address book and says it is not installed properly.  I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it to no avail.

Whenever I try to compose a new message I get an error message that says "there was an error opening this message" I am not trying to open a message, I am trying to send one.

I have uninstalled Oulook and re-installed it but again to no avail.

I was getting a message that said Outlook was not configured correctly please re-instal so I did, the message has stopped but it still won't work.
I can receive messages though so why can't I send them?

I am also getting an error message when I try to access the Internet Connection Wizard, "failed to load the Internet Connection Wizard helper component" it that is of any use.

Please help as I am currently pulling my hair out and I don't really have much to spare.

Sue

Answer: Sue,

I

I have seen this type of problem before, and it seems to be caused by a corrupted sending message file in your outlook directory.

I suggest you try the following:-

Merlin

1. Open Outlook Express and click on [Tools]- [Options]- [Maintenance] then [Store Folder].
(Make a note of this by copying the full path into a notepad document.)

2. Open Internet Explorer, pase the path from above into the address bar then Delete a file called Outbox.dbx
