Come to the heart of 1066 country and see this fantastic building which was started in 1070 to commemorate the win by King William of Normandy over the Saxon King Harold on Senlac Field , the location of the Battle of Hastings .

Battle Museum
Set within a beautiful walled Elizabethan styled garden is this independant museum displaying some of Battle's rich history. After the Battle of Hastings and William I, iron workers, farmers, tanners, gunpowder manufacturers and clockmakers all made Battle their home.

The oldest Guy in the world is housed in the museum while it waits to be presented to the public on November 5th every year.

Mad Jack Fullers Follies
John Fuller of Brightling owned the mansion adjoining the Church and the Brightling Estate. The Family became famous for its iron furnace at Heathfield which produced guns and cannons for the navy, and the forge at Burwash Weald which produced a wide range of implements for agriculture and family use.

Sussex Farm Museum
The museum houses a collection of antique and vintage farm tools, implements, barn and field machinery, carts, waggons, trade and private horse-drawn vehicles and equipment associated with them. It tells of a Sussex countryside in an age when farming was labour intensive depending on ox, horse and oil for motive power. The collection numbers over 4000 items, of which more than 2000 are on display at any time.

The Cuckoo Trail
The Cuckoo Trail takes its name from the light railway, the Cuckoo Line , which was closed in the early 1960's. The line ran from Eridge to Polegate, through Heathfield , where by tradition, the first Cuckoo of spring was released at the annual Heffle fair.

The Windmill at Windmill Hill
The mill is the second tallest post mill in England and had the only sweep govenor in the country fitted about 1876, which was patented by the mill owner at the time Charles Hammond who with his brother were linked with the Jack and Jill Mills at Clayton in Sussex .
