Tenterden Museum

Containing much of Tenterden's History
Station Road, Tenterden , Kent phone 01580-764310

here for the Tenterden Museum Web Site.

The Museum is housed in a two storey weatherboarded building, one of the last representatives of a type of industrial building common in the area in the latter part of the 19th Century. It is a few minutes walk from the Kent & East Sussex Railway and their Steam Trains at Tenterden Town Station.

The Entrance Room contains a background to the town and surrounding area, photos and models show its importance and development from the 13th century.

The Tapestry Room contains a 36ft collage created by the Junior School in 1974 to celebrate Tenterden's 525 years as an independant borough.

The Upper Floor contains a wide collection of farming and rural craft implements.

The Victorian Room has a nostalgic feel with a kitchen hearth, exhibits, models and photographs.

Opening times:
March Saturdays and Sundays 2.00pm - 4.30pm
April or Easter if earlier until October 31st every day except Friday 2.00pm - 4.45pm
Late July and August every day except Friday 11.00pm - 4.45pm

The museum is operated by volunteers, and could not continue
without the generosity of residents and visitors.
