Brookland (Brookland Kent - (13th century wooden spire) - an English Village (UK))

Brookland in Kent in the South of England lies in the middle of the Romney Marshes. The church has an octagonal tower, with three diminishing 'flounces'. Until 1936 it was covered in black tarred weatherboarding. It is believed the tower was built around 1260, and so is contemporary with the church itself.
