Cuckmere is a Saxon word "cwicu mere" which translates to "alive/fast sea"
probably meaning that the valley had a fast flowing tide, this was
due to the Sea Level being much higher in Saxon times.
The Cuckmere Haven is a beautiful area in East Sussex, it has the most
iconic view of Sussex, which can be seen by parking on the Seaford side of the
valley beyond Seaford golf course and walking down to Cuckmere Haven.
