Sevington in Kent

(Saxons and Dual Carriageway)

General Details
Sevington in Kent lies just off the A2070 Romney Marsh to Ashford road on a small hill. The village has always been involved with farming as can be seen by the surrounding area.

The village was settled in Saxon times as parts of the church can vouch for. The Normans came and added to the structure and the English finished the work in the 1400's.

The village now consists of the church and Court Lodge which is now a private dwelling. It is slowly being reached by the buildings from Ashford, and in a few years will be absorbed into the town.
Views
It is strange that if you park by the church and face the church that the area looks deserted and has the feel of the villages near the north of the Romney Marsh . If you look in the other direction, you see on a nearby embankment a dual carriageway which is part of the Ashford ring road.
Services
The village only consists of the church and farmhouse, so has no local services.

However Ashford town centre with all its main town services only lies about 1 mile away.
Map
Sevington is shown as the red symbol on the map.
